The Wimbledon Windmilers is affiliated to British Triathlon, CTT and soon, British cycling. We regularly take part in triathlons and duathlons, as well as pure swimming and cycling events.
We cater for all levels of triathlete, whether you are a nervous first timer, as many people who start training with us are, or a more experienced athlete looking to improve further. To get involved just come along to one of the sessions below and give it a go (although please let us know in advance for the Monday swim session).
Monday - Swimming sessions take place on a Monday night at Wimbledon College. 7:15pm for slower group, 8:15pm for medium to faster group. Fully coached session, cost £8.00 on the night, or £55 for a block of 10. Email the Tri team (tri @ windmilers.org.uk) to book a place initially.
Wednesday morning - In the summer (May to early Sept), some Windmilers meet informally at Tooting Bec Lido at 6:30am for an uncoached swim.
Wednesday night ride - We meet at Penn Ponds car park, Richmond Park from 7pm for a 7:15pm prompt start. Sessions include hill work, timed laps, interval sessions, group riding and brick sessions. Wide range of abilities and all welcome to come along. Email for further information. Saturday ride - We normally have a faster group heading out on a Saturday meeting at Starbucks in Wimbledon at 9:00am September through April and at 8.30am May through August, with the exception of when bad weather prohibits. Routes vary but generally they ride between 30 and 60 miles. Note, these are informally led rides, rather than coached sessions. See: Cycling
Sunday ride - Many Sundays see a steady group riding out. Aimed at injured runners and riders who a newer to group rides. The emphasis is on ensuring that no gets left behind.
